The committee members are very thankful to Dr Rajni and her staff for their caring, very sympathetic attitude towards our people. The Doctor has done several cataract operations for FHCF at a discounted rate. Through the year the Doctor provides free eye check up camps and operations for many of the poor villagers.
Rajni mentions that she is doing her bit but it's just a drop in the ocean. Well, that drop in the ocean has given thousands of people their eyesight back, who would not be able to afford the operation.

Arlene and Dr Kundu. Dr Kundu (MBBS, DTM (Cal), FCGP (Delhi)) was born of a middle class Bengali family. He lived in the village of Arani, District Rajshahi in North Bengal. His mother wanted him to be a physician simply because there was no dedicated person to attend to people who were ill in the village.
He came down to Calcutta in 1940 and took admission in medical school, the National Medical Institute (now known as Chittaranjan Hospital). He passed out in 1944, and took an appointment as Home Physician at the Institute for the next year.
At that time, the latter part of WWII, there was a scarcity of doctors in the service, so the Surgeon General of Bengal introduced a law for successful boys to be admitted in Government Medical College in MBBS Courses. He was among the boys selected and completed the MBBS Course successfully in 1949. He then worked in a refugee camp in Bengal as Medical Officer for 6 months, and after that he again took admission in the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicines for his Diploma course which he passed in 1951.
Then he took a Post-Graduate Training in Tuberculosis at Medical College for 3 months. In 1980, All India College of General Practitioners, New Delhi, conferred on him a Diploma as "Fellow of the College of General Practitioners, New Delhi".
He is still practising to date. He has 53 years credit as a doctor, caring for the poor and the rich, in spite of all circumstances, exactly as his mother foretold so many years ago.
Her wish came true.
He is now 80 years old, recently fitted with a pacemaker due to heart problems, but is still active with God's blessings to serve mankind.
The committee of Faith Hope Charity Fund is pleased to have such a dedicated doctor aboard.
